Our Family Coalition promotes the equality and well being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer families with children. We foster community leadership in advocacy efforts that promote social justice.OFC offers family support programs that serve LGBTQ parents/caregivers and their children, providing educational workshops, parent peer support groups, and community-building events and activities; helps foster institutional change focused on building cultural competency when working with LGBTQ families in elementary schools, early childhood settings, and health and social service providers; and engages in policy and advocacy work to advance the equality of LGBTQ families. These three areas of work inform and build on one another. Throughout our programs, we have focused resources on deepening our work with families and the communities in which they live.Education Coordinator (San Francisco)OFC is the largest local LGBTQ family organization in the country, producing more than 150 individual programs in the last year. OFC interacts with more than 750 families, directly serves approximately 3,000 people each year and reaches thousands more, including straight allies in the work that we do. OFC has a staff of nine and an anticipated budget of just under $1 Million for fiscal year 2012-13. OFC has been increasingly active in statewide efforts addressing marriage equality and LGBTQ family issues. For more information about Our Family Coalition, please visit www.ourfamily.org.The Education Coordinator will work with the Education Director on the Welcoming and Inclusive Schools Program, which works with elementary school families, teachers, administrators and community members to create a more affirming and respectful school environment for all families and children, including LGBTQ headed households.Position ResponsibilitiesThe Education Coordinator is a full time position and will be responsible for supporting the Education Director in the coordination and implementation of trainings, family advocacy groups and program events.Responsibilities include:Preparing training materials, co-facilitating trainings, and coordinating post-training technical assistance; Providing logistical support for trainings, including scheduling, securing locations, and other needs; Tracking program contacts, trainings and participants;Maintaining a database of evaluation data for trainings and advocacy groups;Representing OFC in various venues, including meetings, inter-agency collaborations, promotional tabling and networking;Promoting OFC events to organizations and individuals, including design and print work to create outreach materials;Developing programs for LGBTQ families and their allies from diverse ethnic, linguistic, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds;Working collaboratively with other program staff to plan and implement OFC's dynamic and growing social, advocacy and educational programming;Assisting the Education Director in developing the growth of the Schools Program.Desired Qualifications:2-3 years work experience in training, facilitation, public speaking, community outreach and/or organizing, either professionally or as part of broader community work;Demonstrated organization and coordination skills;Strong interpersonal skills;Quick learner with initiative;Able to work both independently and collaboratively;Creative and strategic thinker who is interested in sharing and implementing their ideas;Comfortable with computer software packages and Internet applications (Word, Excel, Publisher, Google Apps, etc.);Ability to design basic outreach materials;Very detailed-oriented; Familiarity with LGBTQ and social justice issues;Experience working with people from diverse ethnic, linguistic, socioeconomic and cultural communities;Bilingual in a second language (in addition to English);Willing to work some nights and weekends;Valid driver's license and access to a car.Please e-mail a cover letter and resume to schools@ourfamily.org by June 4, 2012.Our Family Coalition is an equal opportunity employer and we encourage applications from women, people of color, people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ community, or other underrepresented groups.
