A wicker basket makes an excellent decorative accessory for your home or cottage. Not only for "looks" either, these baskets have many practical uses too. No home is complete without the unique blend of practicality and charm that can only be offered by wicker baskets.

Wicker baskets have history! Going back to thousands of years BC, these baskets were woven from pliable and fibrous plant materials for example oak, ash, willow, cane and reed. Typically the solid or reed woven base was laid down first, then, the vertical staves were added as a support frame. The circumference, or sides, with the basket were then woven within an over-under pattern to complete the basket. Different weave placements or materials might be used to create different patterns or finishes. A lid or handle could then be included if desired.

There's no reason to get sick and tired of these baskets or run out of uses. They are available in all shapes and sizes and can be purchased cheaply at any department or specialty store. If you wish to change the look of the basket, or better match the decor of your particular setting, simply spray paint the basket any color you select.
